·          Lymphedema is a progressive disease of the lymphatic system resulting in swelling of body parts, usually extremities, secondary to protein and macro-molecule extracellular fluid.

·          Lymphedema is not just water retention

·          May be congenital or secondary to radiation,  surgery, or trauma

·          Swelling is not greatly reduced by:

·          Diuretics

·          Elevation

·          Diet changes

·          Compression pumps

·          There is no cure for lymphedema

·          CDT procedures are reimbursed by most insurance companies, including Medicare

·          Except for specific situations, most insurance, including Medicare, does not reimburse for CDT supplies. This includes:
